If you or a family member is over state pension age, you may be eligible to claim Pension Credit, even if you have other income, own your home, or have savings.  Pension Credit is separate from your State Pension.

People who claim Pension Credit may also be getting (or able to get):

  • Help with heating costs
  • Help with rent and Council Tax
  • Free TV license (for those aged 75 and over)
  • Help with NHS costs, such as dental treatment, glasses and transport costs for hospital appointments

Pension Credit could provide on average around £3,300 extra income per year to those eligible.  Currently, HMRC report around one third of those eligible are not claiming it – that’s around 850,000 households!
