WE’RE NOT JUST BOOKKEEPERS
Why CJ Bookkeeping?
Based midway between Banbury and Daventry, CJ Bookkeeping is ideally placed for Bookkeeping and Payroll Services in Oxford, North Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. However, now we are working in a digital world, we are not restricted to a client base based on geographic location.
As a Xero accounting software partner, CJ Bookkeeping helps bring your business into the digital age, improving your efficiency and giving you clear insight to plan for the future for a fixed price.
What we can do for you…
Bookkeeping – We process your day to day transactions, VAT returns and ensure your compliance work is done and submitted on time. This means you will always have an up to date snapshot of where your business is financially.
Payroll – We also offer comprehensive payroll solutions both for our own clients and also as a white-labelled service for accountancy practices to offer to their customers.
Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) – We can manage the entire CIS process for you, making all of the calculations regarding payments to subcontractors as well as those due to HMRC each month. We also provide your subcontractors with the statements they require, in order to complete their personal tax returns.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT US
Why you would want to work with CJ Bookkeeping
CJ Bookkeeping was set up by owner Clare Haynes in 2007. The business started as a sole trader and then over time, as we acquired more clients, we built a team, incorporated the business, and moved into offices. From this journey, we have first-hand experience of the journey that many of our clients have travelled.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between an Accountant and a Bookkeeper?
The official definition is “Bookkeeping is defined as the accurate recording of financial data. Accountants interpret and report on that data. Bookkeepers lay the groundwork for accountants, providing the data that is essential to the performance of their role”
Basically we, as bookkeepers, manage the day to day finances of your business. We ensure all daily income and expenditure is accurately recorded within the accounts, and vat is correctly calculated. We ensure customers are paying businesses on time and suppliers are being paid on time, managing the cash flow. This means at any point we can provide you with an accurate and most importantly, a live financial snapshot of your business’s finances. We of course are keeping you compliant with HMRC along the way! Accountants are then using the financial data for their role - dealing with your end of year tax planning and business future planning, and if you have a great accountant, to discuss your finances/future growth plans at your quarterly review meetings.
Do I have to use Xero?
We have worked with many accounting platforms over the years and we have found Xero to be the best platform for many reasons, therefore we only work with Xero for our bookkeeping service.
If you are not currently using Xero then we can assist in migrating your existing accounts over or set you up from scratch if need be. We can also provide you with training if Xero is something new to you.
If you are unsure about what Xero offers compared to other platforms, contact us and we can talk you through the many benefits Xero would provide both your business and for how we would work with you.
Are you a full-time, full-service bookkeeping and payroll firm?
Not necessarily! We work flexibly to suit the individual client and their business. Whether that be acting as the business’ entire accounts department or offering support to an in-house accounts team.
At a first initial meeting with a client, we will determine what the financial challenges they are currently experiencing and suggest a suitable accounts approach to suit, whether that be part-time, full-time or ad-hoc support.
Is it just you?
CJB is a team of 5 fantastic Client Account Managers looking after our client's bookkeeping and 2 Payroll Managers currently on the Payroll team. The team is growing as the business grows so we are always on the look-out for high-quality bookkeepers to join the team.
How much does it cost?
We bill on a monthly fixed fee basis rather than time-based billing. This means there is complete transparency around pricing and it does not fluctuate, so you are clear on what the investment is, and the value we provide. When we prepare a proposal we provide a ‘menu’ based pick of services – client chooses what they need and are clear on the cost attached to each service element. It’s a scalable pricing structure that can evolve with your business needs.
Are you licensed to practice?
Absolutely! Our practice licence number is 13693 and can be verified with The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (www.icb.co.uk). We also hold Professional Indemnity Insurance and Employers Liability insurance as required.
